WELLNESS TIPS
Salus Monthly Wellness Tips: Skin Care and Preventing Skin Cancer
1. Remember to apply your sunscreen 20 minutes before you go outside.
2. Be careful of the peak times, between 10am-2pm, when the sun is the strongest.
3. If you’re going to be out in the sun for several hours, be sure to re-apply your sunscreen.
4. Make sure you wear good quality sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun.
5. Make sure you drink lots of liquids on a hot sunny day. You don’t want to get dehydrated.
6. Remember to start your kids out early wearing sunscreen and make it their daily routine.
7. Those of you who golf, swim or play other outdoor sports especially need to wear sunscreen and protective clothing so you don’t get sunburned.
8. Get regular skin exams from a dermatologist.
9. Certain medications can make you more sensitive to the sun. Be sure to consult your physician as to the best sunscreen for you.
10. If you’re a swimmer or do strenuous activities you may consider a water-proof sunscreen, but be careful to read the instructions and re-apply every time you get out of the water.
