Overview of IADL Services
Remaining independent at home involves more than just completing activities of daily living on a daily basis; instrumental activities of daily living are also important. These are the tasks that allow a Denver senior to manage their household, and many of them also contribute to living comfortably, safely and enjoying a higher quality of life.
IADL Services Provided:
- Preparing food
- Meeting transportation needs
- Getting essential bills paid on time
- Taking medications as prescribed
- Grocery shopping and shopping for other essential items
- Using the telephone, texting or emailing
Cognitive decline and physical limitations impact many senior citizens’ abilities to manage these tasks independently. This often results in feelings of helplessness and a lost sense of security about continuing to age in place. That is where Salus Homecare Denver comes in.
Our compassionate professional caregivers provide seniors with the help that they need to remain independent, including assisting with some or all of the listed IADLs. In collaboration with our clients and their family members, we ensure that services are effective, beneficial and always promote the senior’s highest level of independence.

I do not own a car. Can my professional caregiver transport me in her personal vehicle?
Yes, Salus Homecare of Denver’s caregivers often transport clients in their personal vehicles for a set mileage rate and with appropriate permission. Another option for transportation might include borrowing a family car that your caregiver can drive when you have appointments. In either case, our caregivers are fully screened and have passed a DMV check.
I have diabetes and my dietician has recommended a menu. Can my caregiver prepare the recommended foods?
Salus Homecare of Denver’s professional caregivers will follow instructions given by your doctor, dietician or other medical professionals when cooking meals for you. They will also cater to your food preferences and any dietary restrictions. Many of our clients find this to be a beneficial and enjoyable service especially when compared to home delivered meals or eating an abundance of frozen, processed foods.
Will my caregiver live in my home?
Our professional caregivers maintain their own residence and are only in our clients’ homes during their scheduled shifts. These shifts can range from a few hours a day to 24-hour care, depending on your needs.
