Without these things, even the most well meaning family caregiver can easily become anxious and frustrated and ultimately decide to simply give up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re a family caregiver for a loved one with Alzheimer\u2019s in Los Angeles, there are many resources that Salus case managers can guide you to. One is Alzheimer\u2019s Los Angeles. This organization provides free support and services to individuals with Alzheimer\u2019s or dementia, their family caregivers and the community. By offering support groups and classes, virtual programs and educational resources, they help make it easier for you to care for your loved one and your loved one to reach their goals and maintain a higher level of independence as they progress through the stages of this disease. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are some of the upcoming programs and events that Alzheimer\u2019s Los Angeles is offering.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning from Home<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether you\u2019re a family member trying to better understand your loved one\u2019s dementia diagnosis or a person with early stage Alzheimer\u2019s making decisions about your own long term care or home care options in Los Angeles, the Learning @ Home webinars and telephone calls can benefit you. These talks are one hour long, open to the public and free of cost. Using the IDEA! strategy, this program aims to help individuals explore why behaviors happen, their meanings and practical tips to respond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>THURSDAYS, AUGUST 13 &#8211; SEPTEMBER 17 @ 10AM-12PM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Savvy Caregiver: a 6-week program<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Co-hosted by WISE &amp; Healthy Aging and PIH Health. Classes are small-group format &amp; held virtually for 3 or 6 consecutive weeks. Access to a computer with internet access is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Registration for this series closes 4 days prior to the event. This type of support is incredibly valuable and can help to reduce caregiver burnout or feelings of isolation. Later, she served as a social worker and case manager for Services to Maintain Independence at the Department of Social Services for one of the largest counties in North Carolina. In that role, her goal was to assist clients who wished to age in place, providing them with resources, information and support that made it easier to safely remain at home. Today, Christine's role has shifted, and she focuses on providing families and seniors with support through digital media platforms as they navigate information, search for tools to overcome isolation and find ways to stay more connected to society while aging in place. Christine is passionate about helping seniors to maintain independence and providing families with the information they need to overcome challenges associated with dementia, physical health conditions and the aging process.
