Salus Pediatric Respite Care Services

Respite care is temporary relief designated for families with children who are medically fragile or have chronically complex medical needs. This type of support makes it possible for family caregivers to spend time time away from home for short periods of time and maintain balance and normalcy in their lives. While the primary caregiver is away, a skilled nurse or other pediatric professional meets the child's medical and personal care needs at home, supporting the family’s goals and helping them all to maintain a higher quality of life.

Pediatric Respite Care FAQ's

If you don’t see your question, please give us a call: (888) 725-8742

Many health insurance plans will cover respite care to support the family of a medically fragile child. Salus is a preferred provider for most. We are also a preferred provider for the state Medicaid program and its managed care programs, MCCW and the Travis C. Waiver. Our team will happily assist you in determining eligibility and filing claims.

Per the Utah Department of Health, this waiver serves the following population: A child between the ages of 0 and 18, with three or more specialty physicians, with three or more organ systems involved in the disability, a child who has SSI Disability Designation and/or a child who is not meeting age appropriate milestones. While this might seem complex, please know our team will work with you to help determine eligibility and file all paperwork.

Respite care services are specifically designated for your child with complex medical needs. Any other child will need to be attended to by another family member or sitter.
