As a parent who is raising a medically fragile child, you might find that “me time” is essentially non-existent and it’s difficult to maintain your own identity outside of “just being a parent”. Salus Pediatric Respite Care can help you to find that time for yourself, get the breaks you need and feel confident leaving your child in trusted, professional hands.

Many health insurance plans cover respite care for medically fragile children, and Salus is a preferred provider for most private insurances as well as for the state Medicaid program and its managed care programs, the Medically Complex Children’s Waiver Program (MCCW), and the Technology Dependent Waiver (Travis C. Waiver). Our team can assist you in determining eligibility and filing any necessary paperwork.
Per the Utah Department of Health, this waiver serves the following population: a child who is between the ages of 0-18, a child with three or more specialty physicians, a child with three or more organ systems involved in the disability, a child who has an SSI Disability Designation and/or a child who is not meeting age appropriate milestones. Salus will work with you to help determine if your child qualifies and assist with filing paperwork.
Respite care services are designated for a specific child, and our nurses are only able to provide support for that child. Therefore, any other children in the home will need to be attended to by the parent or another caregiver.
