Emotional Hospice Support Provided:

  • Counseling from a medical social worker
  • Social workers assisting clients in networking with and accessing community resources
  • General companionship
  • Bereavement services for the family after the individual has passed

As death nears, many families are faced with some tough decisions regarding end of life planning. Having a supportive professional available to listen and answer questions helps many to ease the burdens they are faced with, develop new coping skills, reduce stress and regain a sense of peace in the household.

After one of our clients passes, the need for emotional support often continues for the family. Salus Homecare of Orange County’s hospice social workers and bereavement counselors remain available to provide comfort, opportunities to reminisce and a chance for healing. This extended support is appreciated by many of our clients and part of the reason they choose to use our services.

The physical therapist was exceptional in her care, compassion and personal attention. I will recommend to friends and family.

My family and I hope this letter finds you all well and safe. The reason why we’re taking the time to write to you is to thank you for the hard work, compassion, and dedication, especially in these troubling times, that you all have shown to the community. We all know that an end of life period needs all the emotional, spiritual, and physical help from friends and family, and that is what your team does. But we also know that the families aren’t the only ones that need this support, you also need it, and that is why we want to share the words written in Proverbs 19:17 where it says: “The one showing favor to the lowly is lending to Jehovah, and He will repay him for what he does.” God will definitely repay you all for the generous help you give to others. May these words fill you with encouragement and strength to keep going. Thank you again for everything.

Feeling scared is normal for many people facing a terminal illness. At Salus Homecare, our Orange County social workers are trained to help you to cope with these negative feelings so that they do not consume you in the final months, weeks and days of life. This can improve your quality of life and help you to feel more comfortable with the dying process.

Salus Homecare’s Orange County hospice is designed to provide support to every member of the family, and this includes young children. Our social workers, chaplains and other professionals can speak to children about their concerns, and referrals can be made to community resources if necessary.

Salus Homecare’s Orange County hospice does not require any client to participate in therapy, but many clients find that they benefit from it. If you choose not to speak with a social worker or another mental health professional, simply say so. If you change your mind at any point, the services will remain available to you
